The heat, the smell of spice and flower, the sound of the Indian Ocean, the blue of the sea, the lovely fort of Galle the food ...ohhh to be back. Did I really ride about on a tuk tuk thrashing a mallet in gay abandon? Was I really in the first ever international tuk tuk polo match?

He designed for you a beautiful house. I just loved it , the open airness, the Eastern life around an open courtyard, the art of the roof and tiles, the outside showers, the breeze blowing through, the whole lovely concept so much part of its local surroundings, he has done an amazing job.

We LOVED the Lake House.  Hard to pick the highlight but the huge pool must be one.  A really wonderful retreat but not too far off the beaten track.  We very much hope to return.

You have built a wonderful house which is incredibly peaceful; I can fully see why you are drawn to spending time there. I also loved Sri Lanka as a place, its people, the food and the surroundings were quite special. Sri Lanka has everything.

A most amazing, unforgettable experience. When I started recounting to my family the things we did, I realised how lucky I had been to be there. An evening wade through the warm sea to have dinner on an Island was a one-off. As was participating in Tuk Tuk Polo! I have no doubt that this sport will take off next year (with the right participants). And it is fun to think that we were the pioneers. For me, the time was a small oasis of relaxation and fun. I was just shocked at how fast the time slipped away from us.

This house is fantastic and rises out of the jungle by magic. Even though there were only 2 of us we found it fitted us perfectly. We loved Galle and its restaurants, hotels (for sundowners) and beaches around.  Good bike rides too.  There was usually a lovely breeze from the lake to cool us down. And the crab and prawns from the lake are the BEST. A perfect place for a holiday.

What a brilliant way to spend January!  Warm and comfortable and your cook is terrific!

'Wow, what can I say, the Lake House is a truly magnificent destination for any discerning holiday-maker.  I have never set eyes upon such a beautiful house, designed by such a great architect-owner, no detail has been overlooked. I felt privileged to stay in this wonderful house and can't wait until my next visit!

It's hard to know where to start...- a genuine break from our lives and a chance to put trivia and routine to one side and just enjoy the serenity of your house.  And the delicious feasts createdd by Vigith and team - those spice creations have addicted me to the subtle delights of Sri Lankan food.

Book for the rest of 2024 and for 2025 now.   Don't be shy of the summer and autumn months which are usually lovely in Sri Lanka and it's a quiet time of year to visit.

The Lake House welcomes you for 2024 - there is some availability for New Year 2024/25 and it isn't too early to book for Christmas and New Year  2025/26. Sri Lanka is also lovely from June through to October and this is a time people forget about...
